The Mount Field Area

MOUNT FIELD COUNTRY

The Mount Field region contains many of Tasmania's incredible icons from Russell Falls and the Tarn Shelf at Mount Field National Park to the World Heritage area around Lakes Pedder & Gordon.
This region overflows with natures wonders. Come and embrace your heritage and experience the breathtaking landscape. Did you know that the last Tasmanian Tiger was caught near Maydena or that the world's tallest hardwoods lie in the luscious forest around the Styx Valley?

You can spend days walking around the region with beautiful tracks on the Mount Field plateau, along the Gordon River Road to Strathgordon and Scott's Peak and of course the trek along the Port Davey Track to the southern reaches of Tasmania.
Enjoy a range of activities at Maydena, try the exciting Rail rider or view the entrance to the Junee Cave.

The area has abundant stocks of trout in its lakes and rivers where the bold may like white water kayaking or abseiling down the Gordon dam. In summer, enjoy local berries and cherries, try a cool climate wine at the local cellar door or attend a local market.
The Mount Field region has something for everyone in every season and clearly one day is not enough to enjoy this beautiful region. Why not stay at one of the many quality accommodation establishments in the area and discover the beauty and tranquillity for yourself.
